A standing room only crowd of fans were present for the weekly Mandalorians press conference at Manda'alor sports bar, with some fans being turned away at the door due to overcrowding.
Fans were there to celebrate the Mandos continued undefeated season, with Cleveland sitting at a comfortable 6-0 record. Manda'alor management has already added "Mando Chili" to the menu, and many fans are predicting a Mandos appearance at Chili Bowl III.
Sporting his trademark easy grin, Coach Luke Brand showed appreciation for his fans' enthusiasm.
"Well, y'all know there ain't a coach in th' SFL who wouldn't want a shot at that chili, an' it's just fantastic that th' fan's are gettin' behind us, but we ain't there yet, an' I ain't gonna make any predictions."
Star QB Lem Rorex is, however, willing to go out on a limb and make his own predictions.
"If I had to predict it today, I'd say it'll be us and the Cadavers in Chili Bowl III. Colby, you smart-mouthed little pussy, it will be a pleasure eating the chili we're going to stop you from winning."
It seems to this reporter that, while both players have managed to stay out of the news this season, the old Colby-Rorex rivalry is alive and in full swing. And Rorex has definitely thrown the gauntlet, virtually promising to help defeat Colby's Cadavers should both teams make it to Chili Bowl III.
Cleveland continued their so-far-perfect season last weekend by first rolling the San Francisco Fairies 68-6. Yet another new expansion team has been embarrassed by the Mandos, losing to the Green Team by a whopping 62 points, on the Fairies' own home turf.
Cleveland then returned home to deal a rude awakening to the current Chili Bowl champions the Rochester Ghostbusters, helping the Las Vegas Hookers bust the previously undefeated Ghostbusters twice in the same weekend.
Fresh off their loss in Las Vegas, the Ghostbusters discovered that what happens in Vegas, doesn't always stay in Vegas, as the Mandos dealt them a 24-14 mauling.
Next weekend, Cleveland faces two straight road games against opponents whose records seem pitiful against the Mandos' current impressive 6-0 record. The Mandos first travel to Bettendorf, where the BulldogZ sit at 1-5, then the Green Team faces a team with the exact opposite of their own record, the 0-6 Alpine Scorpions.
"Ask me about how their records compare to ours, an' I'll go look fer a rat's ass I could give." said Coach Brand in his usual direct manner. "I tell my boys to play each an' every damn game like it's th' Chili Bowl."
