Death Valley: The reigning SFL champion Cadavers took field for the first time today for practice. While most teams are only figuring out starters the champions are getting back into rhythm.
"We're doing great, things are just the way we left off." said team coach Jeff rYe. "we've got some new players from the draft we're working on getting adjusted. It's a matter of time before we see if they can really handle the workload of a championship team like this." When asked about the status of SFL leading rusher Dennis Colby rYe responded.
"We're still not sure what's going on with colby...." rYe motions towards the street as a black SUV slowly creeps past. "That's Dennis there. He's been circling camp for the past three hours. Every now and then he slows down even more. A couple times he actually stopped, got out signed a few autographs, the got back into his car and drove off." When asked about the starting back situation with the Cadavers rYe responded.
"We're working with Bartlet as the starter and that's how we plan on going into the season. If Dennis returns he will take the 2nd back position." While this may seem like a shock to outsiders of the SFL, but the 2nd back in Death Valley is on the field 90% of their plays. Coach rYe also made point to remind us that their 3rd round draft pick this season will take the 3rd string position in their commonly used 3 back formation.
"As far as Thurman (QB) goes he's made his name here in death valley. He debuted as rookie of the year, then the following season he broke the TD record and MVP'd following that. We're gonna give him more control over the offense."
