Coach Luke Brand's policy of beefing up the Cleveland defense seems to be paying off handsomely, as the Mandos start off the season undefeated, with a 2-0 record following the first weeks of play.
The Mandos took their campaign of doom on the road, first bashing the Pittsburgh Butt Pirates in an impressive 37-0 shutout. A fitting welcome to the SFL for one of the new expansion teams.
The next stop on the Mandos' road trip of terror had the Mandos scalping the Natives in Fayetteville, throwing up an impressive 55 points against the Natives' 24.
Lem Rorex continues to shine amongst his peers in the SFL, finishing the first two weeks of the season as the league's top passer, racking up an impressive 651 yards with nine touchdowns.
Looking forward to the next two weeks of play, the Mandos first host the Ferndale Footbrawlers. Ferndale coach Sonny Fontenot may be looking for a little payback on Cleveland coach Luke Brand after Brand snagged OLB Hai Light in the first round of this season's draft, spoiling Fontenot's own attempt to draft the Japanese defensive powerhouse.
Cleveland then hosts neighboring former Chili Bowl contender Waco in what some are beginning to bill as the "Ohio rivalry", though no rivalry has been hinted at by either team. With the two teams' stadiums merely an hour's drive apart, an intense rivalry has begun to brew between the two teams' fans, if not the teams themselves.
