Death Valley: The time has come for one of the greatest rivalry games of the season. The two time champion Cadavers hosts Ferndale Footbrawlers on the Monday night game. The brawlers up till this point in time have failed to overcome the "Colby Offense" a detailed scheme that featured star running back and multiple time MVP Dennis Colby doing everything. To complement Colby was rookie of the year Thurman Cason (QB) delivering bombs to Jimbo Ebony (WR.)
That was the past, and this is now. Cason continues to rank high in completion % and touchdowns, but Ebony slips in production every game. Colby shares his carries almost 50% with rookie sensation D. Bartlett. Ferndales running QB Freddy Alevy slips to second string in favor of rookie K. Dory (QB), Running back Deward Grace has explode with 12 rushing touchdowns in only 5 games. When asked by a Death Valley reporter if Grace was attempting to break the season record of Silvio Brunner (27 rushing TD's in Season One) he responded with
"...you better believe it."
Now the only undefeated teams left in the SFL face off, The Footbrawlers at 5-0 and Home team Cadavers at 4-0. Fresh off the bye week things seem set for Death Valley to take the win. Bartlett is fresh and feeling no effects from his hip injury sustained following the game.
"I guess I just got so excited that I rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns I tripped over the bench and hurt my hip." Bartlett says of his 2 game injury. "I felt fine in the game I came back in, rushed for a good buck thirty." Jimbo Ebony was unable to be reached, Dennis Colby surprisingly was.
"Man I'm going to run all over those fucking chumps just like every other time. They can't beat us in the pre-season, they can't beat us in the season, they can't beat us in the play-offs... IT'S THAT SIMPLE! I don't care if Ebony gets 1 catch for -15 yards the entire game, just means I'll have more rec yards." Second year quarterback Cason was much less talkative.
"It's gonna be a hard fought game, Grace has really shown he wasn't the 2nd string back to Alvey. That new quarterback of theirs is pretty tough." No members of the Cadaver defense could be reached for a comment.
